The Significance and Science of Our Lady of Guadalupe
Presentation Overview:
Our Lady of Guadalupe is the title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary following her appearance to Juan Diego, a Mexican farmer, in the hills above Mexico City in 1531. But how can we be sure about something that occurred so long ago? The answer is truly astounding!
This multimedia presentation covers the history of Our Lady’s apparitions at Guadalupe and presents the amazing results of modern scientific analysis that has been performed on the cloak (tilma) of St. Juan Diego, a spectacular relic which survives to this day. The cloak of St. Juan Diego, made from coarse cactus fibers, miraculously bears a detailed, full-color image of the Virgin Mary that has persisted for nearly 500 years without any signs of deterioration.
